Taking place from 18 to 20 November in Florida, WAF is the world’s largest live awards event for architects and designers, bringing together leading projects from around the globe, with finalists presenting their work in person to an international judging panel.
Siranna is a luxury hospitality destination comprising a 65-key hotel and 35 exclusive residences located on the Gulf of Aqaba coastline in Saudi Arabia. Inspired by the region’s mountains and wadis, the project was shaped through a collaboration between ERA-co, Woods Bagot, Customs Bureau and Impact Futures.
As a next-generation placemaker, ERA-co helped shape the strategic vision for Siranna, ensuring the destination responds to its setting while creating long-term value.
“Being shortlisted for WAF is recognition of a project that set out to do something distinctive. Siranna was inspired by the idea that the most memorable places emerge from their context, creating an experience that could only belong to this location,” said Steven Cornwell, Global Director of ERA-co.
“The project demonstrates what is possible when a clear vision is carried through from strategy to design.”
The Future Projects – Residential category recognises unbuilt and conceptual residential developments from around the world, spotlighting projects that demonstrate innovation in large-scale residential design.
“Siranna began with a simple idea of creating a destination that feels as though it belongs to the landscape rather than competing with it. From the coastline to the surrounding terrain, the setting informed how people would experience the place from the moment they arrive. That connection between place and design has guided the project from the outset, and we are proud to see it recognised on the global stage,” added Paolo Testolini, Global Director of Urban Design and Masterplanning at ERA-co.
